TAMPING BAR AND NEEDLE
Tamping Bar - used to initially tamp down the black powder into the hole.
Tamping Bar - used to initially tamp down the black powder into the hole.
Tamping Needle - fit into the tamping bar to aid tamping; after the black powder was tamped down, this was covered with an incombustible material (i.e. - clay or rock dust).​
